Another good week for us with 3 Salmon, 4 Grilse and a Sea trout being landed. Noteable catch of the week was first time visitor David Brown landing two on the Monday morning with the biggest being a 14lb er in the Upper Ferroch on size 10 silver stoat. David also landed a 5lb grilse in the Cottage on the same fly but small Ally's and Cascades did trick for the rest of the week with sport from both banks. Things look fairly settled for this coming week so fingers crossed for another good one.

    Cheers Brian

Another fantastic week for us at Cairnton and Middle Blackhall with 12 Salmon landed, 6 Grilse and 2 Sea Trout with Cairnton side only edging it by a couple from Middle Blackhall but with sport like that either bank is a good cast with the Rock Heads coming out top pool as the water has dropped this week. This week has belonged to French salmon angler Bernard Bimboes who not only landed a few cracking fish but also landed Cairnton's biggest of the season so far at 20lb from the Upper Ferroch at 10.30pm last night on a Cascade. Picture to follow once they have returned home to France. Another noteable catch was regular visitor Allan Gowers who landed fish of 12lb and 9lb in the Ferroch's on Monday on flies he tied in the lunch hut before starting and the varnish was hardly dry!

Next week looks pretty promising with the great June we had and the fantastic start to July. With the stamp of fish that are about I'm looking forward to this week .

Apologies for the later than usual posting but Sarah and I have been at the Scottish Game Fair at Scone Palace today where it was lovely to bump into so many of our clients and have a blether. We shall see you soon and most definately in 2017 and it was great to hear the positive feedback we received with regards to the 2007 price initiative for 2017.

We are pleased to announce the release of 2017 fishing dates and that we have reduced the prices for 2017 to what they were back in 2007, this is a significant reduction. After a difficult start to the season due to the big flood we are very proud at Cairnton & Middle Blackhall that we have managed to repair most of the damage caused by the huge water and that so far the fishing this season has been good. We are having the best June for about 10 years. We would like to encourage people, who perhaps have become a little despondent in the fishing to return and we hope that the drop in prices may just be the key to getting you back in the water.

We would love to welcome fishing parties of 3 or upto 7 people and we can accommodate you in either our lodge on Cairnton for upto 4 rods or in Glenbogle lodge on the Middle Blackhall bank for upto 7 rods. We also welcome single rods for full weeks, part weeks or single days.

Cairnton & Middle Blackhall is a superb beat with fantastic facilities and we would relish the opportunity of seeing you and your friends fishing here. Please see below the price list for 2017.

To book your fishing and accommodation now for 2017 or to enquire please email Sarah.

This past week was very good for us with 9 Salmon and 3 Grilse being landed and our biggest fish so far this season landed by Andy Ashcroft in the Malt Steep on a small Allys Shrimp. All the fish were on small Allys or Stoat Tails this week and all fish were either liced or just off and very fresh. Saturday was our only let down with the river being very unsettled and rising to 4ft on our gauge and turning a bit dirty but I was very happy with the week we had. The river looks good today at 2ft 6ins so I'm sure we shall finish June off with one or two more.

We have plenty of rods available over the next few weeks on both Cairnton and Middle Blackhall.

Middle Blackhall - £78 per rod inc VAT

A good week for us at Cairnton and Middle Blackhall with 8 Salmon, 3 Grilse and 7 Sea Trout being landed. Best catches were Andy Ashcroft landing a cracking 15lb fish on Monday from the Cottage and following it up on Friday with our biggest so far at 17 lb from the Malt Steep on Friday. Catches might have been slightly better if we didn't have the flood on Wednesday as there seemed to be a few fish starting to lie about in the pools but a very good week all the same. Flies that were doing the job were small Exacutioners and Gold Boddied Willie Gunns on small tubes and dressed doubles. The coming week is looking good with water height and forecast so we should pick away at one or two.

Rods available over the next few weeks so please email Sarah to book now for either Cairnton bank or Middle Blackhall bank. sarah@cairntonestate.co.uk

Last week saw the return of the Richard Harris party to Cairnton and Middle Blackhall and what was looking difficult on Monday with bright condition's and low water, our luck changed on Tuesday with Jeff Bishop landing 3 Sea Trout with the biggest at 4lb all on a small Stoat all from Invercannie. Wednesday we awakened to a very dirty and higher river from the thunder storms of Tuesday so it was going to be difficult but Thursday was looking pretty good with the height down to 1ft with us and the clarity looking good. Jeff Bishop didn't take long to get on the score sheet with a lovely fresh fish of about 8lb from Cottage and Richard quickly followed it up landing two fom the same pool about the same size. Friday was surprisingly quiet for us but Saturday was quite productive with two fish being landed, again from the Cottage and another Sea Trout from Invercannie so although everything that was landed were from a couple of pools we have no complaints. Next week looks pretty promising with cloud forecast most of the week so even with the lower water we should pick one or two up.

On the reconstruction project, during the week turf went down with special netting on top to hold it in place in case of a high water and more grass seed distributed and it really is looking fantastic

We have rods available on both banks this week so please contact Sarah to book your rod now. sarah@cairntonestate.co.uk.

Not an easy week for us on Cairnton and Middle Blackhall but there were a few fish about, mainly showing in the Upper Ferroch and the Rock Heads and with the return of the Festing party who know the beat pretty well (30 years) I was expecting a few fish but not through lack of effort we only managed a lovely Sea Trout on Wednesday in the Middle Salt Vats and then on Friday Tim Buxton landed a very fresh fish of about 9lb on a Sunray in the Cottage with a few chases aswell. Saturday was looking promising with a good few fish showing here and there with 2 lost after a short time in Invercannie but that was our lot for the week. However many times throughout the week when we put on small flies we caught plenty Salmon Smolts and Parr which is good for the future. This coming week I would think that small Stoats/Exacutioners on full floaters should pay off with the dropping water and rising temperature and the early mornings and late evening will give us the best chance.
