Quite a good week for us with four fish being landed, two from Cairnton and two from Middle Blackhall and strangely enough all from the Malt Steep and all on Willie Gunn's. On Monday John Webb landed a lovely fish of 7lb although not liced but was very fresh. Wednesday I was very fortunate to land a sea liced 10lb er and Andy Ashcroft did the business again on Thursday landing fish of 7lb and 6lb. Another couple were lost after a short time but I was happy with the week and the way we finished march off and hopefully it continues in April.
We still have rods available until 22nd April at the special rate of £80 per rod per day plus VAT. Email sarah to book now. sarah@cairntonestate.co.uk.

This past week was looking good for a few fish and although we saw one or two each day it was was Wednesday before we got on the the score sheet with Hakon Heskja from Oslo landing his first Dee Springer in the Middle Ferroch on a Long Winged Monkey. Hakon's fish was about 14lb and although it was not liced it was very fresh. Regular rod Andy Ashcroft landed his 2nd of the season from Kelpie on the Middle Blackhall bank on a Gold Boddied Willie Gunn which was about 10lb. Thursday and Friday we saw the odd fish but Saturday there were quite a few showing as the water was rising all day and stirring them up so I am very hopeful for this coming week with the recent rise and finish March on a good note.
Don't forget that we have a fabulous offer to fish Cairnton over the next 4 weeks for £80 per day plus VAT (28th March to 22nd April 2016). Email Sarah to book your day. sarah@cairntonestate.co.uk

What a really good week for us with 6 fish landed and all safely returned. First off the mark was regular rod Andy Ashcroft getting his season off to a start on Monday landing a lovely fresh fish in Kelpie on a gold boddied Willie Gunn. On Tuesday new visitors to Cairnton were Jenny and Steve Wellard and between them managed to land 5 lovely liced fish. 3 from the Upper Ferrochs and 2 from the Middle Ferrochs. 4 were on a Kinemorny Killer and 1 on a Sunray with Steve landing 4 and Jenny landing 1 which I'm told is very unusual as Jenny normally lands more but that's the fishing.
Next week looks pretty good too with the height at 1ft 9ins today and with some snow melt should keep us going at a good fishing height this week.

A pretty quiet week for us at Cairnton and Middle Blackhall. Albeit we had not a bad water height most days and all the bits were covered, not much was seen but hopefully with the rise in water today we should get one or two coming through this coming week.
Cheers Brian

This past week started off with the height at 1ft 1ins and we were still needing a change in conditions for things to improve and we got it on Tuesday night. By Wednesday morning the river had risen to 3ft on Cairnton Gauge and it paid off with a fish of roughly 14lb from the Middle Salt Vats and a liced 7lb er from the Old Garden, both fish were on an Ice Maiden variant on a full floater with a fast polytip. It was also good to get a look at the pools with the height being the lowest and the clarity being the best since the flood a month ago and I have to say that apart from some bank erosion our pools look pretty good, some have been scoured out and others have filled in slightly but nothing that will stop fish lying in them. The height this evening was 1ft 2ins so another lift would not go a miss to keep one or two trickling in.
We have rods available over the next few weeks on both Middle Blackhall and Cairnton so please contact Sarah to enquire or book. sarah@cairntonestate.co.uk

This past week was very quiet on the catches front and very little interest other than from the odd Kelt that was still lying about, mainly down at the Malt Steep area, and I hate to say it but a lift in water would probably help our cause as a change in conditions should get a few fish on the move whether it be fresh fish or fish that are lying about.
Cheers Brian.
