This past week saw the return of Ian Ogden's party who know the beat pretty well and it wasn't long before Nick Hill was into a fish which turned out to be a lovely Sea Liced Grilse from Glisters on a Blue Charm and that was surprisingly Monday's catch but Tuesday was looking better with a few more showing here and there but we had to settle for another Grilse which Stewart Henderson landed in the Cottage on a small Flamethrower then on Wednesday Eric Rymer landed a lovely liced Grilse in the Cottage on a Silver Stoat. Thursday was fairly quiet for us with the rising water but there were plenty about. On Friday we were seeing a lot of fish but they weren't very keen until Frantz Bouchot got a lovely 10lber from the Upper Ferroch on an Ally's Shrimp just after lunch and Phillip Wood landed a Sea Trout over on the Blackhall bank of about 4lb. Saturday was looking pretty good with the water settling down but although we saw quite a few we couldn't connect. Condition's look fairly hard going for the next few days with a very hot spell forecast however early starts and evenings should produce.
2017 dates are now open and we are very pleased to be seeing bookings returning from our Scandinavian friends as well as from the UK. Email Sarah to get your fishing dates in place now for 2017 or get a few more days in before the end of the 2016 season..

This past week was slightly quieter than the previous one but again plenty of effort from both banks with Cairnton fairing better with David Ritchie landing a nice fish of about 6lb in the Grey Mare on Monday and after a quietish couple of day's John Smith landed a fairly fresh fish of 7lb on Thursday again in the Grey Mare but things were still hard going with the odd fish here and there but nothing like the previous. On Saturday things picked up with Keith Collins landing a nice Grilse in the tail of Glisters on a Brown Pig and Graham Reid landing a good fish of about 10lb in the Cottage on a Brown Pig and as the picture shows had a fair bit of Seal damage but they all count. Saturday afternoon was probably the most we had seen all week but they weren't very keen. There is more rain forecast this evening so that might stir things up this week.

A much better week for us with 5 salmon, 7 grilse and a sea trout landed, with the Blackhall bank out fishing the Cairnton bank, only by a couple but this is probably the case due to the water height jumping about each day with Blackhall fishing better in the higher water and the lower water favouring the Cairnton bank. Favourite flies this week were Ally's Shrimps and Cascade's on size 9 and 11's on intermediate tips. This coming week looks fairly good with settled condition's so we should be good for one or two.
We have availability on both Cairnton and Middle Blackhall in 2 weeks time, 15th to 20th Aug so why not book in now for a few days. Cairnton £92.40 per rod per day inc VAT and Middle Blackhall £78.00 per rod per day inc VAT.
Email Sarah now to book. sarah@cairntonestate.co.uk
Or have you already had your week fishing on another beat on the Dee this year and fancy a change for 2017. We have availability at various times throughout the year for fishing parties and we can offer accommodation also. Please contact Sarah to enquire. Also remember that we are offering 2017 fishing for 2007 prices. Get your dates in the diary fixed now.

This past week got us off to a good start with John Thornley landing a lovely 4lb Grilse in the Cottage on Monday then the heat wave really kicked in on Tuesday with temperatures hitting the low 30's and very humid but it didn't stop Rob Walton landing a nice 6lber in the Grey Mare in very bright condition's, then on Wednesday the weather really broke with thunder and lightning most of the morning and 10am resembling 10pm because of the light but it certainly cleared the air. Thursday we saw a rising river all day and I thought this would have made our week finish on a really good note but things remained fairly quiet and only the odd running fish seen but hopefully the coming week brings July to a good finally.
As always contact Sarah to book or enquire about fishing for both Cairnton & Middle Blackhall for this year or next.

The start of this past week was looking really promising for a few fish but things were a bit quiet and not through lack of trying but the week belonged to Andrew Kilgour with a cracking 18lb fish on a small Ally's from the Upper Ferrochs on Wednesday evening. The other Grilse that were landed were again on small Ally's/Cascade patterns. This week should be quite good with the return of a few regular parties that know the water pretty well so I am fairly confident for one or two fish

Another good week for us with 3 Salmon, 4 Grilse and a Sea trout being landed. Noteable catch of the week was first time visitor David Brown landing two on the Monday morning with the biggest being a 14lb er in the Upper Ferroch on size 10 silver stoat. David also landed a 5lb grilse in the Cottage on the same fly but small Ally's and Cascades did trick for the rest of the week with sport from both banks. Things look fairly settled for this coming week so fingers crossed for another good one.

Another fantastic week for us at Cairnton and Middle Blackhall with 12 Salmon landed, 6 Grilse and 2 Sea Trout with Cairnton side only edging it by a couple from Middle Blackhall but with sport like that either bank is a good cast with the Rock Heads coming out top pool as the water has dropped this week. This week has belonged to French salmon angler Bernard Bimboes who not only landed a few cracking fish but also landed Cairnton's biggest of the season so far at 20lb from the Upper Ferroch at 10.30pm last night on a Cascade. Picture to follow once they have returned home to France. Another noteable catch was regular visitor Allan Gowers who landed fish of 12lb and 9lb in the Ferroch's on Monday on flies he tied in the lunch hut before starting and the varnish was hardly dry!
Next week looks pretty promising with the great June we had and the fantastic start to July. With the stamp of fish that are about I'm looking forward to this week .
Apologies for the later than usual posting but Sarah and I have been at the Scottish Game Fair at Scone Palace today where it was lovely to bump into so many of our clients and have a blether. We shall see you soon and most definately in 2017 and it was great to hear the positive feedback we received with regards to the 2007 price initiative for 2017.
If you have not had a chance to read our most recent post, you may not have realised that we have released 2017 fishing dates and more significantly these are at 2007 prices. Have a look now at our previous post and book your 2017 fishing now for you and your party.
