This week turned out to be much better with two being landed. One from the tail of the Cottage at 8lb on Tuesday on a size 7 Cascade and Stuart Birth landing a cracker of 15lb at the death on Saturday afternoon on a rising water on a Willie Gunn Shnealda from the Malt Steep. The river had continued to rise last night to 3ft 5ins on Cairnton gauge so it should hopefully bring some fish in. Today it's sitting at 2ft 8ins and slightly peaty but looking good for tomorrow.

This past week the river height conditions were very good for us with Monday at 1ft 10 ins dropping slowly all week until Friday when it rose a couple of inches then gradually dropping back to 1ft 5ins on Saturday. We were seeing one or two fish showing but they didn't seem to be hanging around very long and yet again the strong west wind made it harder to cover the water and the bright sunshine made things a wee bit harder too. I'm sure this coming week we shall get on the scoresheet for April if things remain settled. Water height today ( picture below )

This week started off looking pretty good with the water height at just over 3ft, so with the river dropping every day it could not have been better apart from the gale force winds blowing every day but we started seeing one or two fish coming in this week which is really the first I have seen this season in any numbers which keeps you trying, however we blanked but it is encouraging to see. The forecast for the coming week looks not too bad, apart from the wind which is meant to drop, so I am quite hopeful for a fish or two especially if the river stays at this height. It was a good start to the week with the river at a great height and a fish of 7lb from The Mill on a Junction Shrimp on Monday and surprisingly that was it for the week. Conditions remained pretty good for the rest of the week with the height and water temperature going up and down slightly but still good for Cairnton so maybe next week shall be better.

The week started off with the river level at the lowest so far this season and looking good for a fish or two but it was Tuesday before an 8lb fish was landed in Sandy Bay on a Monkey. Wednesday a 7lb fish was landed in the Long Jetty and another of the same weight in the Old Garden both on a Monkey. Thursday a 7lb fish was landed in Malt Steep by Iain Wilson from the Borders Gun Room on a Posh Tosh. Friday, Iain did the same again, 7lb fish on a Posh Tosh in the Long Jetty (picture below) and again on Saturday a 7lb fish on a Posh Tosh this time in the Malt Steep. The forecast for the coming week looks not too bad so maybe we'll get one or two.

The week started off a bit high for us at 5ft 7ins and running a bit coloured but by Tuesday it had dropped to 4ft 3ins and cleared resulting in a 7lb fish being landed in Lower Salt Vat on a Cascade tube. Wednesday turned out to be a fantastic day for Lee Craig, Ghillie on Carham on the Tweed. Lee landed 3 fish, a 9lb fish in the Colonel (pictured below), an 8lb fish in Sandy Bay and a 10lb fish in the Malt Steep all on a 5" long winged Posh Tosh and surprisingly with conditions improving each day that was it for our week but I am looking forward to next week as the river has dropped to 2ft 4ins today and with not a bad forecast for the first few days we should have good fishing.

The week started off pretty good for us although the height was a little bit high at 3ft 11ins & the temperature at 39f but we managed a fish from Grey Mare at about 7.5lb on a 1" Cascade Copper Tube. Tuesday was a lovely spring fishing day but not an offer. Wednesday was another lovely fishing day with Mark Blair from Perthshire landing a nice 12lb fish from the Malt Steep. The next few days were very quiet for us due to the unsettled water and that was it for the week. I expect tomorrow to be quiet due to snow melt from the Glenshee chairlift area which I witnessed for myself this afternoon but maybe Tuesday we'll have a chance.
