This past week saw pretty good condition's with plenty cloud cover on most days and with fish in all the pools but despite the effort we had to be content with two fish for our week with the biggest being landed by regular Cairnton rod John Marshall from the Cottage and weighing 14lb on a Stoat Tail. Next week looks fairly unsettled weather wise with some rain and a bit of frost forecast latterly so I would think that will help to ginger things up.

This past week saw the return of Faye Buchan's party to Cairnton and Middle Blackhall and I fully expected a few fish to put in the book with the change in condition's at the end of the previous week. We saw plenty of fish rolling about in the pools of various colours and sizes but again we had to settle for another one fish week which was landed in the Upper Ferroch on a Green Flea by Faye's fiancé Charles Stuych and it weighed 12lb. Although there were another few on very briefly that was it but I was happy Charles saved the week for us.

Next week's condition's look fairly hard again with very little rain forecast but maybe a seasonable frost would help things a bit.

Only 3 weeks left in the season so if you fancy one last throw before the years out contact Sarah to book. sarah@cairntonestate.co.uk.

Condition's this past week were not too favourable for good fishing with very low water and bright sunshine but things changed on Friday with the river jumping up from 0 ins on our gauge to 1ft 10ins which was very welcome but it did not really put the fish on the rattle, although we did manage to land a fish of about 13lb in the Grey Mare which saved our week. Saturday we got another rise in water but it seemed to switch everything off the take with the river colouring up most of the day but I am confident a fish or two will be landed this coming week with the break in the weather.

We have availability on Middle Blackhall this month, as well as a few days on Cairnton, so check FishDee for available days and contact Sarah to book.

Also remember that 2017 diary is open for the full season so get in early for the dates you require.

This past week saw bright sunshine and low water which resulted in very difficult fishing condition's and although there were plenty of fish about again they were proving hard to tempt but full credit to our rods this week who certainly put plenty of hours in and were keen to try all legal tactics but to no avail, so it was down to returnee Cairnton rod Bernard Bimboes from France saving our week with a fish of about 7lb from the Upper Ferroch on a Black Francis on Friday.

Unless things change drastically for this coming week weather wise it's going to be hard again with the fairly dry forecast but with a light outfit approach it should give us the best chance and hopefully some rain comes soon.

Rods available on Cairnton & Middle Blackhall from now over the next 6 weeks to the end of the season so please email Sarah to book. Cairnton £105.60 per rod per day inc VAT and Middle Blackhall £78.00 per rod per day inc VAT.

This past week saw the return of Kim Michelsen's party to Cairnton and Middle Blackhall and they did not disappoint with their fishing effort. As always they fished with the Traditional Blue Charm's, tapered casts and full floating lines and after a few casts in the Rock Heads on Monday morning, new member into the party Dan Pedersen landed a fresh Grilse of about 5lb which was Dan's first ever day on the Dee. Later that evening Per Larson landed a fish of about 16lb in Invercannie. Tuesday it was Kim's turn landing a fairly fresh 8lber in Invercannie but it was looking like the week was going to get harder with the levels dropping every day along with very bright condition's and fish being very dour but Dan managed a nice 4lb Grilse in the Grey Mare on Thursday and that was it but a fairly good catch for the week considering the condition's.

We really need water now to pick things up as the river is sitting at its lowest height so far this season but the forecast is mainly dry with the odd shower but even if the water temperature cools down a few degrees it can change things.

As always to book fishing for this year or next please contact Sarah. sarah@cairntonestate.co.uk

This past week was looking good for a few fish with quite a few lying about mainly at the top of the beat with a fair mix of fresh and coloured ones about. However the bright sunshine throughout the day's of the first half of the week made the early mornings and evenings our best chance but the fish had other ideas and a couple were lost. On Wednesday Lee Craig from Carham on the Tweed made an early start and landed a small but fresh Grilse in the Rock Heads on a size 14 Editor then followed it up in the evening with a Sea Trout of 2lb from Grey Mare. On Thursday there was plenty activity but nothing landed then on Friday Paul Wilmanski landed a fish of 10lb and a small Grilse in the Upper Ferroch on a size 12 Stoat. On Saturday again there were plenty about but not very keen. Next week see's Kim Michelsen's party returning from Denmark who are avid Blue Charm angler's when at Cairnton and have great success on this famous old pattern, so hopefully this continues in the coming week and a good report to be written next Sunday.

This past week saw the return of Ian Ogden's party who know the beat pretty well and it wasn't long before Nick Hill was into a fish which turned out to be a lovely Sea Liced Grilse from Glisters on a Blue Charm and that was surprisingly Monday's catch but Tuesday was looking better with a few more showing here and there but we had to settle for another Grilse which Stewart Henderson landed in the Cottage on a small Flamethrower then on Wednesday Eric Rymer landed a lovely liced Grilse in the Cottage on a Silver Stoat. Thursday was fairly quiet for us with the rising water but there were plenty about. On Friday we were seeing a lot of fish but they weren't very keen until Frantz Bouchot got a lovely 10lber from the Upper Ferroch on an Ally's Shrimp just after lunch and Phillip Wood landed a Sea Trout over on the Blackhall bank of about 4lb. Saturday was looking pretty good with the water settling down but although we saw quite a few we couldn't connect. Condition's look fairly hard going for the next few days with a very hot spell forecast however early starts and evenings should produce.

2017 dates are now open and we are very pleased to be seeing bookings returning from our Scandinavian friends as well as from the UK. Email Sarah to get your fishing dates in place now for 2017 or get a few more days in before the end of the 2016 season..
