The last couple of weeks were very quiet on Cairnton and Middle Blackhall, as far as fresh fish were concerned. We caught and saw kelts most days but apart from a couple of fish lost that felt good, the springers proved elusive. All that changed yesterday however, after a change to milder conditions and a sustained rise in water levels we landed 3 fresh fish, of which 2 were sea liced. George Boyne got his season of to a flyer with 2 fish of 9lb & 6lb on an 1 1/2” Alistair. Grahame Reid also opened his account for the season with a cracking 14lber on an 1 1/2” Black and orange. With the water sitting at a good height and settled conditions we will hopefully get some more fish next week.

    Regards

What a great start to the season for Cairnton and Middle Blackhall. 2 great fish caught on opening day with lots of Kelts too over first 3 days. One fish was caught in Glisters by Mark Melville, the head ghillie from Delfur and was 15lb. Nick Armstead is holding the second fish (pictured) from the Grey Mare and was about 16lb. Hopefully many more to come in 2018.

    Great start to 2018

So the last week of the season produced 7 fish which can not be sniffed at. One 10lber from the Lower Ferroch on Monday, one 5lber from the Grey Mare on Tuesday, one of 10lb from Lower Ferroch and one of 5lb from the Cottage on Wednesday. On Thursday the Middle Ferroch produced a 14lber and the Lower Ferroch a 4lber on Friday.  Yesterday saw the last fish of the season, a 12lber in the Cottage.

It was a pleasure to see everyone who fished here this year and we hope to see you all again next year.

The diary is open for the 2018 season so if you have not already contacted Sarah please email her as soon as possible with your dates so not to be disappointed.

What a great week we have had. 13 salmon caught in total,  3 on Monday, 1 on Wednesday and Thursday, 5 on Friday and 3 yesterday. The slightly lower temperatures have definitely had an impact and I hope that this trend continues into the last week of the 2017 season.

Typical autumn week when conditions are a bit warm but again there were fish about but they weren't keen and until things chill down it's going to be hard going but we did manage 3 fish on Tuesday, so that saved us a blank week.

Not long to go now until the end of the 2017 season on the Dee but hopefully we'll land a few before the end.

We have some rods available on both banks this coming week so please email Sarah to book now.

A good week with the return of John Marshall and party and although there were plenty of fish about they just were not on the rattle but as I said a week or two ago a frost or two would help. Maybe next week so fingers crossed.

Another good week for us with fish landed from both banks with the biggest being 18lb from the floating bank on  Middle Blackhall side. Funny old week with fish rolling every where but not playing ball hope next week is better.

    Cheers Brian
