Spring certainly was in the air this week with more colour appearing on the riverbanks by the day, sunshine most days and Wednesday onwards almost cloudless skies with sharp early morning frosts.
We got off to a good start on Monday with Andy Ashcroft landing a 10lb er & Chris Macleod landing an 8lb er both in Malt Steep. Ian Ogden landed his first of the season on Tuesday in the Grey Mare (8lb). Andy Ashcroft had his second of the week on Wednesday in Malt Steep (9lb). Thursday was a day to remember for Dale Gordon landing his first ever salmon on a fly he had tied the previous day, an 11lb er in Malt Steep. Graheme Reid had a 9lb er in the same pool. Skjalg Lund from Norway always manages to land a fish when he fishes Cairnton, this time a 10lb er from the Plank and his friend Roar Velle managed a 7lb er in Middle Ferroch. Although we had a few offers and saw an odd fish Friday/Saturday nothing was landed. Flies that did the trick were Monkey patterns, Ally Shrimps and Willie Gunns.
Water heights were 2' 4" on Monday. Tuesday 1' 11" and rising to over 3'. Wednesday 3' 7". Thursday 2' 8". Friday/Saturday 2' 2".
Water temperature were 38/43 Fahrenheit
