The second week of the the season started off with over 6ft on the gauge and unsurprisingly it was raining most days with a south easterly breeze but conditions and the fishing improved as the week went on. A few Oystercatchers were arriving which always is a sign spring is on the way although we have a bit to go yet. The fishing was very encouraging for us with four fish landed and still a few kelts about. Andy Ashcroft had his first of the season, a lovely 10lber on an Alistair on Tuesday.  On Thursday Ken Mackenzie who has landed many Salmon managed his first February fish, a lovely 8lber on a Black & Yellow. A 10lb fish was also landed the same day on a yellow Flashwing and we also saw a bit of sunshine for the first time in quite a few weeks. On Friday Alistair Dunbar had his first of the season also, a 9lber on a Monkey.

Water heights were 6' 1" on Monday and by Saturday 2' 6". Water temperatures were 35/40 Fahrenheit.

If you fancy a cast we have rods available this coming week. Check our website for availability and contact Sarah directly to book. sarah@cairntonestate.co.uk
