The 2026 season opened for us on Monday and we had the pleasure of welcoming Colin and David Craik - Somers Fishing Tackle & party for the week. Mr David Boddie did the traditional blessing of the water with a dram and an optimistic speech for the season a head. The river was high but clear and looked good and although there were no clean fish landed, we did have a good number of well mended kelts. The following few days were still looking good for our first clean fish and disappointingly one was lost at the net on Friday. Saturday however with his very first cast of the season Charlie Robertson hooked & landed a lovely 8lb er in the Malt Steep on a Willie Gunn and within minutes Kevin Fleming landed a 10lb er in the Lower Ferroch on a Monkey. A great end to the first week.
Water heights were 4' 6" on Monday and by Saturday 3' 4".
Water temperatures were hanging around the 37f/3c.
