This week started off raw and damp with an easterly breeze and as forecast by Thursday the wind had moved round into a warmer south westerly direction which in turn brought rain and melting snow giving a very different river height by Friday/Saturday and a change in conditions will do us more good than harm.

On the fishing side of things we got off to a great start to the week with well known angler Andy Ashcroft landing his first of the season on Monday in the Grey Mare which was 8lb . The weapon of choice was a Gold Willie Gunn and I'm sure Andy's first of many this season.

River heights were running around 1' the first half of the week and by Saturday morning was 6' 6" however it had been higher through Friday night. Water temperatures were mid 30's Fahrenheit but crept up to 41 Fahrenheit by Saturday.

As ever, if you fancy a cast get in contact with Sarah to book. sarah@cairntonestate.co.uk.

    Cheers Brian
