The first full week of the season we had a variety of conditions from bright, cold and sunny with some cloudy, murky spells and an odd flutter of snow. We had low air temperatures below minus to 6c above on some days also. Water temperatures were between 34/41 Fahrenheit. Heights were between 1' 4" to 4'. Everything was really looking promising and it didn't disappoint for well known angler James Simpson on Wednesday when James landed our 1st and his 1st fish of the season in the Malt Steep on a Monkey fly and weighed about 8lb. Always nice to get that first one. We have had a fair number of kelts also which is encouraging to see as the last couple of seasons there weren't many about. We also saw the first Oystercatchers this week . They are maybe a bit premature though.
Cheers Brian
