A good start to last week with the river height at 1' 1" and a water temperature of 45f. It was also a good start for Andy Ashcroft with a 13lber from the Malt Steep on a Gold Willie Gunn. On Tuesday the river was up to 1' 10" and a few fish were seen but showing no interest. Wednesday the height was 2' 8" and rising with colour which didn't help much. Thursday we were on 3ft and looking promising with a fish or 2 showing and after 3 days fishing Paul Jones finally got a lovely liced fish of 6lb in the Malt Steep on a Posh Tosh tube and a good end to his trip. Friday/Saturday were lovely conditions with the river dropping slowly and we were still seeing a few going through but again showing no interest in what we were offering them.

The week ahead looks to be quite settled with a mix of sunshine and cloud with daytime highs to 12 degrees c and winds from the South and swinging into the East then from the North as the week goes on.

    Cheers Brian

Chilly breeze but a nice April week
