This past week on Cairnton and Middle Blackhall turned out to be our best of the season so far. Monday started off with the height on the Cairnton gauge at 3' 9" which was a big drop from the Sunday evenings 8'. On Monday Will Shropshire landed a lovely fish of 11lb in Sandy Bay on a gold Willie Gunn and within minutes Mark Kemp landed his first Atlantic Salmon, a 14lb cracker in the Lower Ferroch on a Monkey. Mark has caught various species of fish from around the globe but reckoned that was by far the best fighting fish he had landed. Tuesday we had a few half-hearted offers which were probably from the odd kelt still lying about. Wednesday was a good day for both banks with Andy Ashcroft landing a nice 7lb er in Kelpie on his fail me never the gold Willie Gunn and Andrew Holloway landing an 8lb er in the Malt Steep (Cairnton bank) on a Monkey. Also on Wednesday Jamie McCulloch landed an absolute belter of 15lb on a Willie Gunn in the Lower Ferroch which turned out to be Jamie's first Dee spring fish. On Thursday we saw the return of Cairnton regular Allan Gowers who landed his first of the season in the Colonel on a Monkey, a lovely 7lb er, we also had another 7lb fish from the Middle Ferroch on an Ice Maiden. Friday and Saturday we had lovely conditions for a fish or two but with all good things and especially in salmon fishing they must come to an end and although we did see a few fish and had a few offers we blanked but what a fantastic week for our rods.

This coming weeks weather looks not too bad with some wintery showers most days and wind's from the south west.

Unfortunately 2 of our Danish clients have had to cancel their trip to Deeside this coming week due to a travel ban from Denmark but we hope to see them later in the season instead. So we have 2 rods available on Cairnton on Tuesday and Wednesday this coming week and then 1 rod available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday again on Cairnton at £94.80 per rod inc vat. We also have 3 rods available on Middle Blackhall each day at £66.00 per rod inc vat.
