This was a productive week with 6 salmon & 3 sea trout & the same again lost.
On Monday I met some good friends David Waters & Graham Nichols, alongside Charlie Alford on the Cairnton bank.
On Monday Charlie caught a fresh sea trout from the Middle Ferroch using a floating with a 5ips tip.
I also caught a 3lb Sea trout fishing into darkness using a floating line with a dressed Lady Caroline single in the Middle Ferroch.
On Tuesday Grahame caught a cracking 9lb salmon on a dirty cascade from the Middle Ferroch.
On Wednesday Charlie hooked a fish in the long pool but unfortunately the fished wrapped it self around the rock and broke him.
David caught a 2lb sea trout from the tail of the Malt steep using a sunray on an intermediate tip.
Thursday morning, the water temperature dropped down to 48f. We fished with heavier sink tips. Grahame got off the mark with a beautiful 14lb salmon from Lower Ferroch, using a 7ips tip & and a half inch aluminium monkey.
I was in the action too with a 12lb salmon from the garden run, fishing a 18ips tip with a Willie Gunn.
Late afternoon I sent David up to fish Middle Ferroch with a 10ips tip & 8cm samurai Ally shrimp. I noticed the water was starting to rise. It didn’t take David long before I received a phone call asking for help. On arriving from the bottom of the beat I noticed the fish had lots of power. About 10min later I netted a beautiful fish that weighed 19lb.
On Saturday David started in Middle Ferroch. He hooked a 9lb salmon in Lower Ferroch. He made this way down the Grey Mare where he caught his second fish around the 12lb mark. Using a 7ft 10ips tip with a sunray.
The water is dropping off nicely so next week is also looking promising.
Tight lines
