This was a disappointing end of the season due to the rise in water temperature.

On Monday Owen Duff caught a 5lb coloured grilse from the Malt steep on a Conray shadow from Middle Blackhall.

Monday evening I had a cast at cairnton which I was successful in hooking 3 fish but unfortunately only landed one 9lb cock salmon from old garden using a sunray shadow with a 5 foot

    intermediate.

On Tuesday Colin Chisholm fished 2 days at cairnton, on his last day I caught up with Colin just before lunch at the cottage pool and at that point he had seen a few fish splashing but no offers. I suggested heading up to Grey mare and strip a sunray through the tail end. We met for lunch 30 minutes later and he reported having a 5lb cock fish from the Grey mare on the old faithful Sun ray shadow.

Sadly then the heavens opened and the river rose over night.

On Saturday morning the water was almost 4 ft on the gauge & carrying a little colour. It started dropping late afternoon . Michael Mcanenay & partner fished at Middle Blackhall. When I caught up with them they had seen a few fish. I advised fishing into the last light. Later that night I received a text message saying he landed a 4 lb fish at malt steep.

It shows that patience paid off!

    Tight lines Terry
