This was a week of two halves.

In the first half of the week at Middle Blackhall we caught a grilse and a sea trout with the rise in water from the weekend, which were caught by Chris Inglefields.

On Wednesday we had a rise of 3ft plus &

Thursday was carrying a lot of colour which made it difficult to fish, however it started to clear more towards the evening and dropped to 2ft 8” which encouraged late bookings for both Cairnton & Middle Blackhall.

The rods at Middle Blackhall on Friday had 2 grilse and 2 sea trout.

At Cairnton the day rods had 1 salmon caught by Ian Scott in Middle Ferrochs and a 5lb grilse by Michael Carry in Grey Mare. In the evening I caught a grilse in Middle Ferrochs and a 3lb sea trout in the Cottage Pool both caught on a Ponoi Gold.

On Saturday the river dropped down to 1ft 10”, Stuart Lindsay caught his first fish on a fly in Upper Ferrochs, a 5lb grilse followed by a 4lb grilse in Middle Ferrochs with his friend Tommy McGuire who caught a 6lb salmon in Middle Ferrochs. John Chalmers caught a 6lb fresh salmon out of Grey Mare on a monkey and a 2lb sea trout from Malts Steep.

On Saturday at Middle Blackhall we caught a 7lb salmon on a Cascade by Stuart McBain and 2 sea trout caught by Jim Cowie on a Monkey from Malts Steep.

Here’s hoping to a good week next week!

    Tight lines,

    Terry
