A lovely week for fishing and nice to see water in the river again with the height at 3" on Monday and rising to just over 1ft by Wednesday. Thursday/Friday it was steady at 11" but with overnight rain on Friday, Saturday was a bit of a wash out as the height was just over 3ft by end of play. Water temperatures ran fairly steady all week around 58/60 Fahrenheit. We ended up with 6 Salmon, 1 Grilse and 3 Sea trout. A good class of summer fish with 3 of them in the teens of pounds with the largest for Robert Bramman from Kelpie pool and was 15lb and surprisingly only the one grilse landed. Flies that were working were Sunrays, Willie Gunn’s and Cascades.  The week ahead looks to be a mixture of dry and wet at times with rain coming from a westerly direction.

    Cheers Brian

Conditions this past week got better as the days went on. The water was minus a couple of inches on Monday and Tuesday but by Wednesday we were up 5 inches and by Saturday it was a lovely 10 inches on the gauge. Water temperatures were pretty steady 57/58Fahrenheit. We amazingly drew a blank for the week, after having such a dry spell for so long then getting a freshen up would normally bode very well but that's fishing.  The drone pictures i have been posting recently give a great look at all the pools different character and the lies etc.

Next week looks to be quite mixed with some thunder and lighting forecast the first few days then drying up a bit for later in the week .

    Cheers Brian

Another warm week for us on Deeside but we did enjoy some sport with two sea trout and our first Grilse landed by Nigel Olsson in the Grey Mare on Tuesday, a nice chunky 3lb er on an Irish Shrimp pattern. The week ahead looks like some unsettled days with rain and temperatures dropping a bit.

This past week got off to a more promising start with the height on Monday sitting at minus 3.5 inches but it did rise a couple of inches with heavy overnight rain on Sunday and by Tuesday we were sitting on 1 inch above 0 inches but unfortunately the levels fell away as the days went on and by Saturday we were back down to minus 3.5 inches, also the morning water temperatures were back down to the lower 60's Fahrenheit. Pretty much most days were uncomfortably hot and bright with an occasional breeze. The weeks catch was two sea trout, one of 3lb for Bob Kenyon and another one of 3lb for Bernard Bimboes with a few others being lost.

The coming week looks like the heatwave is over, for the time being anyway, with a drop in temperatures and some rain floating about so fingers crossed.

Last week the fishing and weather conditions couldn't have been more difficult with very hot bright sunny days and a dropping river with a 63/64 Fahrenheit morning water temperatures and creeping up as the day went on so not the easiest fishing but we had the return of Ian Wilson and party for the week and they certainly cover the water but because of conditions this was mainly in the cooler hours, evenings and very early mornings until the heat of the day got going and they finished the week with a well earned 4 sea trout to 3lb and others being lost.

The week ahead looks as though we have a change of weather on the way with rain forecast for Monday and also some showers as the week goes on with more wet stuff forecast for Saturday so fingers crossed.

Last week was a tough one for fishing, the river sat at 0" on the gauge on Monday and finishrd at - 2" on Saturday. Overhead it was cloudy/overcast for the first three days and then very hot and sunny the last three days, the water temperatures ranged between 60 to 56f over the week. However it wasn't totally futile as our fisherthem certainly put the hours in and they did connect with some fish and sea trout but unfortunately only managed to land two sea trout for the week with the largest of those being a 4lb er for Johnathan Lane from Invercannie.

The week ahead looks to be a hot one again with a chance of a thunder shower this evening but dry the rest of the week, the winds coming from an easterly/South East direction.

    Cheers Brian

The fishing conditions were very hard this past week with mostly bright blue skies and relentless sunshine but occasionally we did see some cloud which gave the rods a bit of a breather. It was certainly cooler in the mornings and evenings with a slight frost on Friday morning. The water temperatures varied from 55f on Monday to 60f on Saturday. We got off to a good start on Monday with an 8lb fish on a small Stoat Tail in the Cottage Run. Tuesday was fairly quiet. On Wednesday, Andy Ashcroft had a 2.5lb seatrout. Thursday we had three seatrout to 3lb. Friday a few fish were seen before the heat of the day got going and Saturday produced two 8lb ers, one from the Upper Salt Vat for Ian Anderson on a small Sunray in bright sunshine and Ewan Maclachlan landed his first Cairnton fish from the Grey Mare on a small JJ and was still carrying lice. This coming week looks to be pretty dry again but winds coming from an easterly direction so hopefully its slightly cooler.
