Last week saw the return of Kim Michelsens party from Denmark and they got off to a pretty good start on Monday as Kim landed a 9lb Salmon on a March Brown and Per Larsen landed 3 grilse on a Blue Charm. Per also managed a grilse on Tuesday and Wednesday also on Blue Charms. Kim's party were unlucky not to land a few more with other fish being lost but they also caught 4 sea trout for the week. Over on the Middle Blackhall bank saw Benny Johansson and his friend Anders from Sweden back on Deeside and although they fished hard and had a few fish on unfortunately none were landed

The week ahead looks to be dry with a mixture of sunshine and cloud and an easterly breeze with some rain coming in by Friday and Saturday.

We have rods available this week and next so please get in touch if you would like to book. All availability is listed on our website with details on how to book.

It started off looking a bit dire at the beginning of last week due to low water again but by Tuesday things were looking up with the river rising and by end of play it had gone up over 1ft which helped us for the rest of the week. The end result was 2 salmon, 10 grilse and 4 sea trout landed and a few lost also. The Goodchild family, who were fishing all week on both banks, all had fish with varying weights up to 10lb on a fair mixture of flies, the most being on Silver Stoats, Ally's Shrimps and a few on the Dee Sheep. Special mention has to go to George Goodchild landing the beats 100th fish of the season, a lovely 10lb er in Kelpie on Thursday.

The forecast for the coming week looks to be reasonably dry with cloud and sunny intervals.

We have available rods over the first couple weeks in September on Cairnton. Get in touch to book now. All rod availability can be viewed on our website along with details on how to book

Thankfully we don't get many spells of weather like the one we have been experiencing. Hopefully the high air & water temperatures and blistering sunshine day after day comes to an end soon and if the forecast is correct we should be getting heavy rain & thunder storms in the upper river catchment late tonight with some rain and cooler temperatures for the next couple of days. However back to the fishing, it has been very hard going for our anglers who put in a good effort and still managed to keep a smile on their faces with the odds against them. Concentrating the fishing hours to very early mornings and late evenings produced 2 sea trout for the week, a 4 pounder for Bryan Whittaker and a 2.5 pounder for Ross Macdonald.

A bit harder going this past week with the dropping river levels and the return of warmer weather. On Monday we were at 1" and by Tuesday/ Wednesday down to 0", then Thursday/Friday 1" & Saturday back down an inch. The water temperatures have varied  between 58f to 64f and creeping up by afternoons. However we did manage 1 salmon, 3 grilse and a sea trout plus a few others lost after a short time. Top rod this week was Tim Sperring who finally got a lovely liced grilse of 5lb to stay on to get a mention.  Successful flies were small Crathies and Executioner’s.

The week ahead looks to be warm and mainly dry with an odd isolated shower.

If you are looking to fish in a few weeks time we have rods available across both banks. Please check our website for full availability and booking details. www.cairnton.co.uk/fishing-availability.php

We got the much needed drop of extra water to start the week off which made a better end result for us this week with 5 Salmon and 10 Grilse landed, some licers among them plus quite a few losses also. Water temperatures started off at 64f on Monday and dropped down to 58f by Tuesday and remained at that for the rest of the week . The water height was 1ft and rising to 1' 5" by Tuesday and gradually dropping away to finish at just under 3" by Saturday. Fish catches were spread between both banks with Mike Richardson being the top scorer with 7 to his rod and all on a small Posh Tosh tube.

This coming week looks to be mostly dry with an odd shower floating about.

We have rods available on Cairnton this week for £80.40 inc vat so please get in contact with Sarah directly to book. All availability can be viewed on our website www.cairnton.co.uk sarah@cairntonestate.co.uk

Well what a week that was with the extremely high water temperatures of up to 70f and air temperatures up to 90f along with sunshine but things did cool down slightly by midweek and turn a little more favourable. However although there were fish hooked and fish showing a bit of interest each day it was Scott Morris who saved our week with a lovely 5lb grilse in Potters on a small Crathie on Wednesday.

This coming week does look better with a bit of a rise coming through today and a bit more rain forecast this evening and tomorrow followed by drier but cloudier days the rest of the week.

As always you can check our availability and details on how to book on our website  www.cairnton.co.uk

Another good week for us considering the difficult conditions with 2 Salmon and 8 Grilse landed. The water temperatures varied between 62f to 66f with the river falling away each day. We had uncomfortably hot days but there were no complaints with the results. Brad Collis and party fished the first 3 days landing 2 Salmon and 3 Grilse then Steve Kettlewell and party on the second half of the week landed 5 Grilse with pretty much everything on Silver Stoats and Crathies size 14. Notable catches were by the familiar face of 14 year old Lewis Blair doing it again with a lovely 5lb Grilse, Michael Johnson landed his first at Cairnton and Roman Buczynsky also landed his first on Cairnton to finish the week off.

This coming week looks to be extremely hot the first couple of days but there will be a significant change to some cooler temperatures from Wednesday onwards with the prospect of some rain from the weekend.

All rod availability for the season is listed on our website which can be booked directly with Sarah.
